Retirement is official for LG Fire Chief David Fleege; Lt. Bill Bryzgalski to be recommended as new chief

La Grange Fire Chief David Fleege retired, effective today, after six years on the job.

Village President Elizabeth Asperger Monday night said she would recommend Lt. Bill Bryzgalski, a 26-year veteran of the fire department, to succeed Fleege as chief.

The village board will consider Bryzgalski's appointment at its Oct. 11 meeting, she said.

In the video below, Asperger reviews Fleege's contributions to the fire department and reads a resolution in his honor.
