Next month, Holub will serve as emcee for a banquet celebrating the 50th anniversary of the West Suburban Chiefs of Police Association.

With the American Legion honor, awarded July 16 in Springfield at the group's state convention, Holub is a candidate for the National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award, which will be announced in February at the Legion's national convention in Milwaukee.

The national award is given each year "to a well-rounded law
enforcement officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of
his or her position and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community
service coupled with professional achievement" according to the American Legion website.

The West Suburban Police Chiefs Association will hold its banquet Sept. 10 at Crystal Sky Banquets, in McCook. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $35 and require an RSVP. Contact Janet Coleman at (708) 579-2333 ext. 2258 or email her at jcoleman@villageoflagrange.com.

Holub, who has served as La Grange's police chief since 2003, is a past president of the association.

He also is a member of the American Legion's Robert E. Coulter Jr. Post 1941, in La Grange.

Holub was nominated for state honor from the Legion by Barry Cicero, commander of the 5th District of the Illinois
Department and past commander of Post 1941.
